A Sonic Meditation: Music of St. Hildegard of Bingen

This will be a meditative concert of St. Hildegard's music, with voice and harp.  The concert is open to the public and is free, with a free-will donation encouraged to benefit Pumpkin Hollow Retreat Center.

St. Hildegard was a 12th century "Renaissance" woman, a Benedictine abbess, and an advisor to kings, other monastics and ordinary people.  A recognized and revered visionary during her life, her visions informed her music and prolific writings. Hildegard was formally recognized as a saint and declared a Doctor of the Church in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI.

The concert are presented by Melinda Gardiner.   Melinda is the co-author of Shadows of the Living Light:  Songs of Hildegard of Bingen.  She is a liturgical musician and cantor at Our Lady of Hope Church, Copake Falls, NY; experienced retreat facilitator; therapeutic musician at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY and Community Hospice; and a faculty member for the Music for Healing & Transition Program.
